EuroLeague DFS Picks 16 October: Top Plays, Value & Fades

Friday’s six-game FanTeam slate, the Friday Shootout on 16 October, gives us a 79-credit budget, a tight cluster of game totals and some very clear pricing gaps. Our EuroLeague DFS picks start with those gaps. A handful of mid-priced and cheap players project well above their salary, while several expensive names don’t.

The approach tonight is simple. Pay up where the projection holds, save credits where the value is obvious, and skip the salaries that don’t add up.

Top EuroLeague DFS picks for the Friday Shootout

Jonas Valanciunas leads our board at 28.5 projected points for 13.4 credits. That is a 2.1x return, enough for cash games, and Zalgiris are 1.40 home favourites against Efes with a team total of 87.5. Favourites with a reliable frontcourt anchor are what you want in cash lineups.

Marcus Carr and Wendell Moore both sit at 2.2x. Their Virtus side is at home against Baskonia in the slate’s highest total, 177.5, with a 91.5 team total that no other team on the slate matches. Pairing them costs 24.8 credits for a combined 54.4 projected points. That fits comfortably inside a 79-credit build if you find savings elsewhere.

Jordan Nwora is the standout among the expensive options. At 11.6 credits he projects for 27.3 points with a 33.5 ceiling, the highest on this list. Crvena Zvezda are 1.34 favourites at home to Paris, and his 2.4x value puts him close to tournament range despite a mid-level price.

Carsen Edwards is the upside play. His 25.7 projection is fine at 12.2 credits, but the 33.0 ceiling is what makes him interesting in tournaments.

Player Pos Team Opp Salary Proj Ceiling Value
Jonas Valanciunas C ZAL EFS 13.4 28.5 29.9 2.1
Marcus Carr PG VIR KBA 12.8 27.9 29.2 2.2
Jean Montero PG OLY BAR 14.7 27.7 31.4 1.9
Jordan Nwora SF CZV PBB 11.6 27.3 33.5 2.4
Sasha Vezenkov PF OLY BAR 15.2 27.2 31.9 1.8
Wendell Moore SG VIR KBA 12.0 26.5 28.9 2.2
Carsen Edwards PG ZAL EFS 12.2 25.7 33.0 2.1
Elijah Bryant SG HTA PAO 15.6 25.5 30.8 1.6

Olympiacos are the road favourites in Barcelona at 1.57, with a 90.5 team total. Jean Montero and Sasha Vezenkov both project well, but at 1.9x and 1.8x they are better as tournament pieces than cash locks. Elijah Bryant at 15.6 credits and 1.6x is hard to justify. Hapoel are 4.50 underdogs with the lowest team total on the slate, 79.5.

Value plays

This is where the slate opens up. Tyson Etienne at 7.0 credits projects for 24.6 points, a 3.5x return. That is nearly top-play production at roughly half the price. TJ Warren, his Paris teammate, adds 23.5 projected points for 8.0 credits at 2.9x.

Paris are 3.65 underdogs in Belgrade with an 82.5 team total, so this isn’t about game environment. It is about salary. Both players clear the 2.5x tournament threshold comfortably and are strong enough for cash too.

Amir Coffey offers the same 2.9x at 7.2 credits. Ante Zizic and Tyrese Martin sit right on the 2.5x line, with Martin the cheapest name on the board at 6.2 credits. Marcio Santos at 7.5 credits and 2.4x gives you exposure to the Virtus-Baskonia total from the other side.

Player Pos Team Salary Proj Value
Tyson Etienne PG PBB 7.0 24.6 3.5
TJ Warren SF PBB 8.0 23.5 2.9
Amir Coffey SF HTA 7.2 21.0 2.9
Ante Zizic C BJK 8.3 20.5 2.5
Tyrese Martin SF BAR 6.2 15.6 2.5
Jordan Nwora SF CZV 11.6 27.3 2.4
Marcio Santos C KBA 7.5 17.8 2.4

Fades

None of these are bad players. They are badly priced tonight.

Nigel Williams-Goss is the clearest example. A 4.6-point projection at 10.4 credits returns 0.4x, which makes him a non-starter at that salary. Nadir Hifi costs 14.2 credits for 15.9 projected points. With Etienne and Warren projecting higher for a combined 15.0 credits, there is no reason to pay for Hifi on the same team.

Dan Oturu at 13.2 credits and 1.4x faces the same problem as Bryant: Hapoel’s low implied total. Codi Miller-McIntyre at 11.8 credits and 1.5x falls short of what Montero and Vezenkov offer from the same Olympiacos side.

Player Team Salary Proj Value
Nigel Williams-Goss ZAL 10.4 4.6 0.4
Nadir Hifi PBB 14.2 15.9 1.1
Dan Oturu HTA 13.2 17.8 1.4
Codi Miller-McIntyre OLY 11.8 17.6 1.5

Games and pace

  • Virtus vs Baskonia (177.5): the highest total. Virtus are 1.50 favourites with a 91.5 team total. This is the game to stack.
  • Barcelona vs Olympiacos (175.5): Olympiacos favoured on the road at 1.57, 90.5 implied.
  • Besiktas vs Bayern (175.5): Besiktas 1.67 favourites at 89.5. Zizic is the cheap way in.
  • Crvena Zvezda vs Paris (171.5): Zvezda 1.34 favourites. Nwora on one side, Etienne and Warren on the other.
  • Panathinaikos vs Hapoel (169.5): the biggest favourite on the slate at 1.25. Hapoel’s 79.5 is the lowest team total.
  • Zalgiris vs Efes (168.5): the lowest game total, but Zalgiris are 1.40 favourites and Valanciunas still leads our projections.
