This NFL DFS early look week 8 starts with a simple observation: the slate is top-heavy in the scoring environments that matter. Dallas carries the highest implied total on the board at 30.5, and three more teams sit at 28 or above. The quarterback position is deep, tight end is thin, and several price tags look soft against our projections.
Everything below is built on our numbers. Projections update through Sunday, so treat this as a first read rather than a final card.
Games to target: NFL DFS early look week 8
Two games stand out on total alone. ARI@DAL is 54.5 with Dallas favored by 6.5, which puts the Cowboys at 30.5 and the Cardinals at 24.0. BAL@BUF is 54.0, with Buffalo a three-point favorite at 28.5 and Baltimore at 25.5. Both teams in each game have a path to a big score, so both are worth bringing back.
Next comes a group of lopsided spots. Cincinnati is a 10-point home favorite over Tennessee with an implied 28.2. Jacksonville is a 9.5-point favorite over Indianapolis at 28.0. These are one-sided environments, so the favorite’s pieces get the attention and the underdog’s get very little (Tennessee at 18.2, Indianapolis at 18.5).
New England is the quieter one. The Patriots are 7-point road favorites at Miami with an implied 25.2, but the 43.5 total is lower than the other games above, which should keep ownership in check.
At the bottom, CLE@PIT (39.5) and KC@DEN (41.0) are the two lowest totals. We would not build around either, with one exception covered below.
Early stacks to build around
Five quarterback stacks project well across all four sites.
- Dallas: Dak Prescott with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens projects 29.4 on Fanteam and 19.0 on DraftKings. It also ranks first on DraftKings value at 0.91.
- Cincinnati: Joe Burrow with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins projects 28.4 on Fanteam and 18.1 on DraftKings.
- Arizona: Jacoby Brissett with Trey McBride and Michael Wilson projects 26.9 on Fanteam. It is the cheapest of the top three on every site, which is the main appeal.
- Buffalo: Josh Allen with DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid projects 24.6 on Fanteam.
- Baltimore: Lamar Jackson with Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews projects 23.7 on Fanteam.
Our view on Dallas is firm. The pass-catching group is concentrated, the game environment is the best on the slate, and Arizona’s 24.0 implied total gives a natural bring-back with McBride. A Prescott, Lamb and McBride build uses both sides of the game.
Baltimore is the stack to watch before committing. Our numbers include Jackson, but his availability after missing time is something to check late in the week. If he is out, the whole Baltimore side changes, and Buffalo’s price tags look different too.
Early value by position
Quarterback
Prescott is the cleanest value. He is $6,300 on DraftKings at 7.25 projected points (value 1.15) and $8,000 on FanDuel at 6.79 (0.85). Allen has the highest projection at 7.68 on DraftKings but costs $7,700. Drake Maye ($6,500, 6.89) and Trevor Lawrence ($6,200, 6.59) both return 1.06 per $1,000 on DraftKings. Lawrence sits in a 28.0-point team total and is the least obvious of the group.
Running back
Jahmyr Gibbs leads the position at 7.24 on DraftKings and 6.28 on FanDuel, and he tops Fanteam value at 0.58. We like him at what should be a lower price in popularity terms after a tough matchup on paper. The value on DraftKings is Kyren Williams at $7,500, projected 6.20 for a 0.83 return. Bijan Robinson is close behind at $8,500 and 6.76 (0.80), and Javonte Williams ($7,300, 5.81) fits any Dallas build.
We are lower on Jonathan Taylor than his name suggests. Indianapolis has just an 18.5 implied total on the road at Jacksonville, and he is our weakest Yahoo running back value on the list.
Wide receiver
CeeDee Lamb is the best value at the position on every site we cover, at $8,100 on DraftKings (7.21, value 0.89). Puka Nacua is projected 7.01 at $8,600, and Ja’Marr Chase 6.25 at $7,700. Zay Flowers ($7,200, 5.88) is the cheapest of the group, but it is a conditional play on Jackson. Justin Jefferson ($7,100, 5.83) is a decent price in a 46.5 total at Detroit.
Tight end
The position drops off fast. Trey McBride is projected 5.97 on DraftKings at $7,400, and Brock Bowers 5.28 at $7,600. Everything else projects below 3.6 on DraftKings. We prefer paying for McBride because the Arizona stack gives him a game-environment boost. If you need salary relief, Travis Kelce at $5,000 (3.51) and T.J. Hockenson at $4,600 (3.41) are the cheaper options, with Hockenson’s value (0.74) the better of the two.
Fanteam early look
On Fanteam, with a 110-credit budget, the top of the board is clear. Lamb has the best value among the leaders at 0.59 (18.7 credits, 11.12 projected). Gibbs is 0.58 at 20.0 credits and 11.61 projected, and Allen is 0.57 at 21.0 and 12.05, the highest quarterback projection on the slate.
The Dallas stack costs 52.6 credits for 29.4 points, a little under half the budget. Cincinnati’s costs 51.7 for 28.4. Arizona’s is the budget version at 50.0 for 26.9, and Baltimore’s is cheapest at 44.7 for 23.7.
Elsewhere on Fanteam: Maye is 19.6 credits for 10.65, Burrow is 18.9 for 10.47, and Lawrence is 18.7 for 10.29. At running back, Bijan Robinson (18.7, 10.56) and Kenneth Walker (18.5, 10.41) both hold value at 0.56. Walker is the one exception to our low-total rule, since our projection is strong despite Kansas City’s 21.0 team total and a 41.0 game total. We would use him more as a way to differentiate than as a core piece.
At tight end, McBride (17.5, 9.65) and Bowers (15.9, 8.48) lead, and Brenton Strange (10.3, 5.27, value 0.51) is the cheapest option with real upside. The Bengals defense (9.3 credits, 4.34) is the top defense on our board.
Several players are listed as injured on Fanteam, including Romeo Doubs, Davante Adams, Trey Lance, Tyquan Thornton and Matthew Caldwell. Check their status before locking in anything involving their teams.
Yahoo early look
Yahoo uses half PPR scoring with no yardage bonuses and a $200 cap. Prescott is the standout at $34, projected 6.79 (value 0.20). Chase Brown at $25 projects 4.74 (0.19), the best running back value on the table, in a game where Cincinnati is a 10-point favorite. Allen is projected 7.40 at $39 (0.19).
Arizona’s stack costs $76 for 14.2 projected points (0.19) and is the best-value stack on Yahoo. Dallas’s is $97 for 16.1 (0.17). Taylor at $37 and 4.67 is the weakest value among the leading running backs here. For a cheaper tight end, Hockenson is $15 for 2.62 (0.17).
What to watch before Sunday
Lamar Jackson’s status is the biggest swing. Our Baltimore numbers and the Bills-Ravens total both depend on him playing, and so does the value in Flowers. DJ Moore’s availability matters for Buffalo’s stack and for how much of the passing work is left for Kincaid.
In Minnesota, the backfield could change if Aaron Jones is limited, which would push Jordan Mason up. Breece Hall’s return would also change the Jets backfield. We are treating both as things to monitor, not assumptions.
Projections update through Sunday, and late injury news can reshape the board quickly. Check the final reports before lock.
