Here are my NBA DFS picks for a four-game slate that has a few clear spots and a couple of open questions. The main Fanteam slate is Celtics-Nets, Lakers-Blazers, Knicks-Pistons and Spurs-Kings. The two stories I keep coming back to are the Spurs as heavy favorites over a Kings team missing several rotation pieces, and Detroit playing without Jalen Duren.
Games and pace
Lakers-Blazers has the highest total on the board at 233.4, with Los Angeles implied for 118.3 and Portland for 115.1. Spurs-Kings is close behind at 230.7, but the gap is the real story there: San Antonio is implied for 123.0 and Sacramento for 107.7. Boston-Brooklyn sits at 227.9 with the Celtics implied for 121.2 and the Nets for 106.7. Knicks-Pistons is the lowest total at 219.3, with New York at 111.1 and Detroit at 108.2.
I like the Lakers game for the top of the Fanteam slate, and I am wary of the Spurs-Kings blowout risk. The Knicks-Pistons game is the one I would treat as a lower-scoring environment, so I am more interested in the Detroit center spot than the stars in that game.
Fanteam main slate: top plays, value and fades
Fanteam is seven players: PG, SG, SF, PF, C and two UTIL, with an 84 cap and up to seven players from one team. Value here is projection divided by salary, so I am looking for players who land near or above 3 for their price. Everything in the tables below comes from the Fanteam pricing for tonight.

Doncic carries the highest projection on the slate, and I think he is the right anchor for a Fanteam lineup. He is not on the latest injury report, but lineups are not final, so I would still check before lock. Wembanyama is the other player I want to be on. The value is excellent for a player at his level, and the matchup against a Kings team short on size is about as good as it gets. The downside is the spread. If the Spurs run away with it early, his minutes in the fourth quarter are the thing to watch.
Tatum has the same kind of value at 3.06. The Boston injury report is not in yet, so I would not lock in any Celtic until I see it. Cunningham’s projection is strong with Duren out, since he becomes the primary ball handler. I still find his value a notch below the top tier, so I would rather pay up for Doncic or Wembanyama than for him.
Towns is the value I like most among the bigs. His projection is high for the price, and I expect a lot of lineups to have him. Brunson is playable, but I would rather have Towns at the same price point.

Reed is the best value on the Fanteam slate by a clear margin. Duren is out according to the latest injury report, so the center minutes fall to Reed and Collins sliding over to center is a secondary factor. The main risk is foul trouble, which would cut into his role, but the price is too good to ignore. Achiuwa is the other one I like. Sacramento is short on depth, and he has been producing in every game with Keegan Murray out.
Fox and Harper are the two Spurs guards I am considering. Fox has the stronger projection, and I would rather have him if I only want one. Harper is close enough that I would not be upset to see him instead. Anunoby and Hart give you Knicks exposure at a reasonable price. Alvarado is out on the injury report, which keeps the New York backcourt in a clearer role. Lillard is worth a look, but his best case depends on whether Scoot Henderson is available. Henderson is questionable on the report, so lineups are not final there.

These three are badly priced tonight. None of them is a bad player. Each one simply asks for more salary than the projection supports. White has the lowest value of the group, and I would only reconsider him if Tatum or Paul George sat and his role grew. Clingan is foul prone, and his price assumes a bigger role than I expect in a game where Portland is not fully settled at guard. Morant sits behind Lillard in my view, and at this price I would rather use Lillard’s upside than pay for Morant’s.
DraftKings
DraftKings is eight players: PG, SG, SF, PF, C, G, F and UTIL, with a $50,000 cap. Value is points per $1,000 spent, and the number is only meaningful on DraftKings, so I am not comparing it with Fanteam. The DraftKings value plays are Reed, Achiuwa, Fox and two Knicks wings, which lines up with the Fanteam picks. The Reed and Achiuwa spots look especially strong on this site because the salaries are low.

FanDuel
FanDuel is nine players with a $60,000 cap and the same points-per-$1,000 scale. The value plays here have a bit more range, with Bridges at the top. I like Reed on this site too, since he carries the highest projection among the cheap centers. Bridges is the one I would look at if I want to save salary, but I see him more as a salary-saving piece than a core player.

Yahoo
Yahoo is eight players with a 200 cap and at most six players from one team. Value here is a plain ratio, so a number near 1 is the line and anything above it is where the price is working for you. Reed is the clear top value at 1.99, which is well ahead of everyone else on the list. Thybulle is the cheapest option with a usable projection, but his ceiling is limited. Achiuwa and Harper are fine options if you want to spend more at the guard spots.

Injury and lineup checks
Duren is out for Detroit according to the latest injury report, and that is the single biggest reason I like Reed everywhere. Ausar Thompson and Isaiah Joe are both questionable, so the wing minutes in Detroit could shift before lock. Sacramento is missing Keegan Murray, Ben Simmons, Dylan Cardwell and Maxime Raynaud, which is why I like Achiuwa and why the Kings are the thin side of their game. San Antonio has Tobias Harris and Jayden Quaintance out. In Portland, Scoot Henderson and Branden Carlson are both questionable, and Shaedon Sharpe is out. The Lakers have Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero out, with Walker Kessler listed as available.
Boston’s injury report is not in yet, so every Celtic on this slate is pending. That includes Tatum, White and the mid-range Boston guards. I would hold off on the Boston spots until the report is posted. Players who are not on the latest injury report are not confirmed healthy, so please treat lineups as not final across the board.
NBA DFS picks FAQ
Who is my top Fanteam play tonight?
I would start with Doncic and Wembanyama. Doncic has the highest projection on the slate, and Wembanyama has the best value among the top-priced players. Both have big upside, and I would rather build around them than chase cheaper guesses.
Should I wait for the Boston report before locking Celtics?
Yes, I would wait. The Boston injury report is not in yet, and Tatum and White are both priced in a way that depends on who plays. If Tatum or George sits, White becomes more interesting. Until then, I am not committing to the Boston spots.
How do I compare value across these sites?
You cannot compare them directly. Fanteam and Yahoo use plain ratios, so Fanteam values near 3 and Yahoo values near 1 are the reference points. DraftKings and FanDuel use points per $1,000, which sits around 5. Compare players within the same site and you will get a clean read.
Check lineups before lock. Several key statuses, including Henderson, Thompson, Joe and all of Boston, are still open, and late changes can move the value plays quite a bit.
