FanTeam EuroLeague DFS GPP Breakdown: Round 34 Friday Slate

Welcome back to the European hardwood, folks! ☕🏀 Grab a double espresso because the EuroLeague Round 34 Friday slate is here, and the injury report is absolute chaos. If you love finding hidden value on FanTeam, today is your lucky day.

Several teams are missing their absolute alpha scorers and primary playmakers, which means massive usage and fantasy points are going to be funneled to the role players. Let’s dive into the most critical injury news and where we can exploit the FanTeam pricing!

The Headline Matchup: AS Monaco vs. Panathinaikos

This game is the centerpiece of the slate, mostly because of who isn’t playing.

  • Monaco’s Missing King: The biggest news of the slate is that Monaco will be without superstar point guard Mike James, who is out until early April with a hamstring injury. You simply cannot replace his usage, meaning the rest of the Monaco backcourt is going to be incredibly chalky for FanTeam value. We could see Nikola Mirotic return from a foot injury today, as he is expected to be available, making him a strong candidate to soak up the offensive void left by James.
  • PAO’s Battered Roster: Panathinaikos is dealing with their own MASH unit. Guard Jerian Grant is doubtful with a fractured left hand, which should open up plenty of backcourt minutes. In the frontcourt, Richaun Holmes is out for the season, and Alexandros Samodurov is out with a toe issue. They also just lost Nikos Rogkavopoulos to a first-degree hamstring strain.

Massive Usage Alerts: The Missing Alphas

Monaco isn’t the only team missing their primary engine. If you are building FanTeam GPP lineups today, you must build around the value opening up on these rosters:

Crvena Zvezda: They will be without sharpshooter Isaiah Canaan, who is out until mid-April with an ACL injury. Look for the secondary wings to get a significant bump in minutes.

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz: Baskonia is missing their human flamethrower, Markus Howard, who is out at least until the end of March with a thigh injury. To make matters worse in the frontcourt, Tadas Sedekerskis is likely out for the season following ankle surgery, and Khalifa Diop is out with a knee injury. Any healthy Baskonia guard is an elite value consideration today.

Valencia Basket: The offense is going to look completely different for Valencia today. Primary playmaker Jean Montero is out after suffering a hand injury in Round 33. They are also missing Xabi Lopez-Arostegui due to hamstring discomfort.

Other Critical Injury Notes to Monitor

Before you hit that final submit button on your FanTeam app, keep an eye on these tags:

  • Partizan: Vanja Marinkovic is tragically out for the season with an Achilles tear. Big man Tonye Jekiri is a true game-time decision with a knee injury.
  • Fenerbahce: Check the status of Scottie Wilbekin (uncertain) and Tarik Biberovic (game-time decision) before lock. Furthermore, Nicolo Melli is out until early April following foot surgery.
  • Olympiacos: They have a cluster of “uncertain” tags for Round 34, including big man Moustapha Fall (who is back in training), Cory Joseph, and Giannoulis Larentzakis.

The Friday Strategy: Do not overthink it! When guys with massive usage rates like Mike James, Markus Howard, and Jean Montero sit out, the FanTeam algorithm usually hasn’t caught up to price their backups appropriately. Jam those backup guards into your lineups to save salary, and pay up for the elite, unfading anchors elsewhere.

Good luck out there, and let’s go see some green arrows on the FanTeam leaderboards! 🏀💰
